Northumbria University Lion's Mane Extract Wellbeing Study
Investigating the effect of mushroom extract on mood and wellbeing
After the success of the pilot trial, researchers at Northumbria University set out to research the effect of Lion's Mane extract on mood and wellbeing. They wanted to focus on Gen Z women (born between 1997 and 2006) especially, as this group reported high rates of mental health diagnoses.
To take part in this study, participants needed to rate themselves as stressed or anxious, with or without a formalised diagnosis. They also needed to be willing to travel to Northumbria University, so we made sure to show the ads only to people who lived within 50 miles of Newcastle.
The results were really strong across Meta, with over 2,300 interested people getting in contact with the study team.
