Imperial College London is conducting the CARE-UK Asthma Study — a clinical trial testing whether a combination anti-inflammatory reliever inhaler, already used in older children and adults, could lead to fewer asthma attacks and better day-to-day control in children aged 5–11.
If you'd like your child to take part, click below to complete a short pre-screening questionnaire.

Who can take part?
Your child may be eligible to take part if they:
Are aged 5 to 12
Are currently diagnosed with asthma
Are prescribed an asthma inhaler — either a reliever (blue) only, or a reliever and a preventer (brown or purple)
Live in the UK and are willing to attend 5 appointments over the course of a year at one of 25 NHS study clinics
Some children will also be eligible for a small sub-study that uses an electronic device to monitor inhaler use. This sub-study is optional.

What's involved?
If your child takes part, they'll be randomly placed into one of two groups:
Control group — continues with their current asthma treatment (usual care)
Intervention group — switches to a combination anti-inflammatory reliever inhaler (the red inhaler)
Children in both groups will:
Receive a Personal Asthma Action Plan setting out exactly how and when to use their inhaler
Attend periodic study visits at their NHS clinic for the duration of the trial
Have access to the study team for advice and support throughout
