Around half of people with anorexia nervosa experience depression, but standard antidepressants often don’t work well for them. This study is testing a medication that may offer a better option.

Who can take part?

Who can take part?

You may be eligible to take part in this study if:


  • You've been diagnosed with anorexia for over three years

  • You're experiencing depression that has not responded to treatment

  • You weigh more than 40kg

  • You have a body mass index of more than 14kg/m²

  • You're willing to attend in-person study visits in London

What's involved?

What's involved?

  • If you decide to take part, you will have 13 clinical appointments over a period of 6-7 months

  • Ten of these appointments will be in-person: a screening visit, eight in-person dosing sessions over four weeks, and one further visit at four weeks

  • Online appointments will take place at baseline, at three months and at six months

  • You will also be invited to take part in qualitative interviews and diary entries about your experience of the study


Participants will be compensated up to £190 for taking part, with travel expenses covered up to £30 per visit.
