Researchers at The George Institute for Global Health and the University of New South Wales are inviting older adults who’ve noticed changes in their memory or thinking skills to  take part in a research study at a local preschool.

The INCLUSIVE Study is a randomised controlled trial exploring the impact of intergenerational programs on the quality of life, health and wellbeing for older Australians experiencing changes in their memory or thinking skills.

Purpose of the study

To determine if a community-based intergenerational program is effective in improving quality of life, health and wellbeing for older Australians experiencing changes in their memory or thinking skills and improving preschool age child developmental skills.

What's involved

Join a 1.5 hour weekly intergenerational program bringing older adults and preschoolers  together to do a range of fun activities for 15 weeks. 

Complete assessments before and after the 15-week program including:

  • Simple health-related questions 

  • Strength, mobility, and balance tasks

Who can join

Who can join

Adults aged 60 years or older

Able to walk 6m with or without a walking aid

Able to sit and stand from a chair with arms

Live in the community

Have no speech or sensory deficits that prevent interaction

Can speak English

Hold a current Working with Children Check (free to apply)

Experiencing memory or thinking changes (MoCA score between 19-25/30, as assessed by a member of our research team)
