Looking to cut down on your drinking?

Stanford Medicine, in partnership with Ria Health, is conducting a study to help people improve their liver health by drinking less.

This study takes place over a three-month period and is testing Ria's secure online treatment program which includes anti-craving medications, online coaching, and digital tools.

All study participants get access to the Ria Treatment Platform. Depending on your study assignment, you will start the Ria program either at the beginning of the study or 3 months later.

Who can take part?

You may be eligible to take part* if you:

  • Are 18 or older

  • Live in California

  • Have access to a smartphone

  • Are willing to complete in-person lab visits once a month over​ the three-month duration of the study (4 lab visits in total)

What's involved

You’ll be asked to complete surveys at the study start and at months 1, 2, and 3 which ask about you, your health and behaviors around alcohol use. 


You’ll be asked to complete blood tests at the study start, and at months 1, 2, and 3. 


You’ll be invited to use the Ria Treatment Platform via your smartphone to receive coaching, physician-supervised medication, and to keep track of your alcohol use.
